Business strategy

We aim to achieve continued growth in mobile service revenue and segment profit by promoting the adoption of price plans that offer attractive value-added services, while leveraging the Group's ecosystem to acquire and retain users with strong long-term usage potential.

Three competitive advantages

1. Multi-brand strategy

The Company provides three distinct brands: "SoftBank," which offers unlimited-data plans; "Y!mobile," featuring lower monthly charges for low to medium volume data users; and "LINEMO," an online exclusive brand that lets customers complete all procedures and receive support entirely online. By matching price plans to evolving user needs, the Company aims to expand acquisitions of new subscriptions, prevent users from moving outside the Group, and increase ARPU.

2. Synergy with leading services offered by group companies

The Group operates some of Japan's largest digital platforms, including "LINE," a communication app, "Yahoo! JAPAN," a comprehensive Internet service, and "PayPay," a cashless payment service. By combining these with our mobile communication service, we deliver unique added value. "SoftBank" and "Y!mobile" users can enjoy "LYP Premium" —which provides numerous benefits from "LINE" and "Yahoo! JAPAN"— at no extra charge. In April 2026 we announced the "PayToku 2" plan under the "SoftBank" brand, which boosts PayPay Point rewards on purchases made with "PayPay" or "PayPay Card." Leveraging these synergies differentiates us from competitors and drives growth by deepening engagement across the Group's ecosystem.

3. High-quality and robust communications networks

The Group provides high-quality telecommunications services that prioritize the user experience by improving service quality in specific areas to meet communication demand, rolling out 5G SA (standalone), and advancing network operations through the use of AI and big data. By effectively utilizing our spectrum holdings and advancing the nationwide rollout of 5G SA, we are building a communications infrastructure that fully leverages 5G's key features—such as low latency and massive-device connectivity—to achieve comprehensive improvements in connectivity, speed, and stability.

We are also proactively working to expand our communication coverage into mountainous areas and out at sea through the use of satellite communication services, while also strengthening our preparedness to secure communications during disasters.
Furthermore, we are advancing technology development and demonstrations with an eye toward utilizing HAPS* (flying base stations), striving to build a more resilient network.
